she may be young but she only likes old things

Non-theist. Retro snob. Ponderer of the infinite.

darkroomromance is a deeply troubled artist. She takes solace in thunderstorms, fantasies and the idea that nothing is real. She dances spontaneously in supermarkets and enjoys science fiction a little too much. Veganism, vintage cameras, cooking healthy food, and the Beatles are her true loves. She also enjoys annotating animate objects and discussing esoteric observations with her techno-snob boyfriend.

“I give [my watch] to you not that you may remember time, but that you might forget it now and then for a moment and not spend all your breath trying to conquer it. Because no battle is ever won he said. They are not even fought. The field only reveals to man his own folly and despair, and victory is an illusion of philosophers and fools.”

The Sound and the Fury, William Faulkner.  (via caddy-smellsliketrees)

Despite how difficult this book is to read, especially the first chapter, it’s quotes like these that make me excited to persevere through the really difficult parts.

The Sound and the Fury:

by far the most difficult book I have ever read, and I was reading Vanity Fair in the eighth grade. Just when I think I understand it, nope, Benjy skips time frames again.

I really, really hope that I can find Wind Waker on the used rack at GameStop this summer.

I have too many games started yet would be depriving myself of so much if I did not play this game.

I love the GAME OVER screen on Metroid Prime II.

It’s almost a privilege to die.

***Until you see the screen about seven times and then want to put your head through your tv.

Golden Gate Bridge Line Up (by danielpivnick)

I have too many impulses to let out

and that line from a Death Cab for Cutie song (“The Sound of Settling”) that goes “If you’ve got an impulse, let it out” absolutely plagues me.

I miss the days when

my sister and I were kids and we would grab a huge bag of Cheetos or Amy’s bunny-shaped cheese crackers and plop down in front of the N64 with its single controller and take turns being Mario or Gex or even Elmo and play until the drab grey controller was caked with cheese dust.
